Ra bat - U.S. President, Barack Obama, appointed Samuel L. Kaplan as the

new U.S. ambassador to Morocco, a statement of the White House said.

Kaplan, 72, is a founding member of Kaplan, Strangis and Kaplan, law firm, established in 1978. He received his B.B.A. degree in accounting with distinction and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota where he was president of the Law Review.
